Ban of Applying Saliva on the cricket ball.

Since we all know that in the current conditions of covid-19 not only the economies of the countries are struggling but also the cricket industry too has faced a downfall. As the international cricket had a stop during the mid of march 2020, it is going to resume now soon. The ICC has announced three test series between England and west indies in the U.K but with extreme precautionary measures.

The ICC has decided to resume international cricket matches but the matches will be played in closed doors with strict precautionary health measures. In these strict protocols also comes the banning of applying saliva on the cricket ball to make it shiny. Applying saliva is an old technique used by bowlers to trough a challenging a ball towards the bowlers. By applying saliva on one side of the leather ball makes the ball swing more in the air as it goes towards the batsman and thus making it challenging for the batsman. There have been many pleas from former cricketers to either lift this ban or allow the use of wax or any other artificial substance on the ball but ICC has declined all these pleas for now. Only the body sweat is allowed by the ICC.
Former Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has also put forward a request to change the ball after every 45 to 50 overs in order to make the game fair. ICC has given health a priority over the cricket itself.

According to ICC if a player applies saliva on the ball, it will be dealt leniently by the umpires of the cricket initially but if used frequently a warning will be imposed on the team and in the warning counts becomes 2, a benefit of 5 run will be given to the batting team.

Now you tell us in the comments, is it just for ICC to impose such a ban or not. If no, then why and if yes then what other measures ICC should have taken instead.
