Babar Azam the new ODI Skipper

The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed Azhar Ali as Test and Babar Azam as One-day International and Twenty20 International Captains for the upcoming 12-month period. Pakistan national team Coach and Selector Misbah ul haq Congratulate both of them and hope that Pakistan team will perform well under their captaincy.
“I want to congratulate Azhar Ali and Babar Azam for getting captaincy extensions. This is absolutely the right decision as they also require certainty and clarity on their future roles. I am sure they will now start looking to the future and start planning so that they can build sides that can perform at the expected levels,” said Misbah.

Since Sarfaraz Ahmed was removed from captaincy Pakistan team have yet not played an ODI They were scheduled to do so in the first week of April against Bangladesh in Lahore, but the corona virus pandemic resulted in its cancellation. Babar Azam was Pakistan’s highest run-getter in last year’s Cricket World Cup with 474 runs from eight games at an average of 67.71
Babar Azam is now the world’s leading batsman in the white ball format with number one position in T20 ranking and number 5 in ODI He is yet to cement his place in the Test side, where he continues to find his feet, but with four centuries and a 97 in his last seven innings he made his intentions clears to make it big for Pakistan.
