Why Kamran Akmal is not in the national team

Pakistan Cricket Team is struggling to have a good wicket keeper in the team. After removing Sarfraz Ahmed from captaincy the gap of a good wicket keeper is yet not filled. Muhammad Rizwan who is currently with the national team averages 16.81 with the strike rate of 97 seems not good enough for the national team despite having good domestic performance. Kamran Akmal who is performing continuously in the domestic circuit and Pakistan super league is ignored by Pakistan Cricket Selection Committee. It is pertinent to mention here that Akmal played the last Test for Pakistan in 2010 whereas he appeared in the shorter format last in 2017. He was ignored by Pakistan’s former coach Arthur due to age factor. The wicketkeeper, who has taken 368 catches and effected 75 stumping across three formats, said he still had many years of cricket left in him.
